Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are Paint Events with Mai?
    Like traditional DIY art facilities, attendees of all range of experience levels, can paint a completed masterpiece in about 2 hours. Unlike traditional DIY art facilities, this is a mobile event, coming directly to you, and is 100% private for you and your guests. All art options have inclusions of Nordic heritage, and Mai will highlight these as we move through creation of the piece.
  • How do I reserve a paint event with Mai?
    Booking a paint event will become an option in the Fall of 2022. Please sign up for the newsletter to be notified when bookings are open here.
  • Is there a minimum requirement for hosting a paint event?
    The minimum requirement for reserving an event is $320. This covers supplies up to 8 guests, setup, clean up, and instruction. Additional guests can be added for $35 each.
  • Can food/drink/alcohol be served?
    Hosts have the freedom to provide refreshments for their guests, provided space allows it. If you are booking an event space please speak with the rental manager about restrictions.
  • What kind of space do I need?
    The best space is usually indoors or away from weather, with hard floors that can be wiped easily. The size of the room is dependent on number of attendees. Please email info@amusedmai.com for an event consult and further questions.
  • Does Mai do children's parties?
    Currently, there are no pieces of art designed for children's parties. This may be an option in the future.
  • What is the cancelation policy?
    Cancellations due to unexpected events from Mai, will result in a full refund. If a host has a reason to cancel, a full refund will be given up until two weeks prior to the event. If it is less than two weeks prior to the event, the event can be rescheduled, or cancelled for a 50% refund.
  • Can my guests pay individually for the event?
    A deposit of $160 is required to reserve your party for up to eight painters, and is due upon booking, and must come from a single payment. Additional guests may require a larger deposit. The final fee can be collected on the day of the party, and can be divided individually. Please contact info@amusedmai.com if you wish to explore further options of paying individually for your paint event.
  • Does Mai offer paint events virtually?
    We plan to expand to virtual soon! Stay tuned!
  • How much time do I need for setup/cleanup?
    The entire event from setup to clean up takes 4 hours max. Please allow an hour for setup, and 1/2 hour for cleanup, with a 2-2.5 hours for instruction time.
  • What is included in the fee?
    A breakdown of the fee includes: Setup/Clean up of the event Easel, Paintbrushes, acrylic paint, paper towels, palette, aprons, water dish per painter Instruction in completing the piece and Nordic heritage commentary. Up to two folding tables (no chairs) (additional tables available for rent)
  • Where can I buy Mai's art?
    Currently the retail option of Mai's work is closed. Please follow Mai on her social media platforms for updates, as she will announce shows and re-opening of the online shop there.
  • Does Mai do comissions?
    No. Althought flattered, Mai does not plan to take on commissions.
  • Why is Mai an "Activity Planner" and not an "Event Planner"?
    Event Planners cover things like contracts, venue arrangements, etc. They do Weddings, Fundraisers, Reunions, etc. Mai plans and run activities. This could be like games at reunions, birthday parties, events. Mai will typically not handle contracts with third parties unless it directly is related to the activity only. For example, if a rental item is need for the activity, Mai will oversee that. However, Mai will not oversee the contracts for the venue, table rentals, etc for the entire event.
  • What kind of Activities does Mai plan?
    Here is a couple ideas: Themed Trivia, Bingo, Yard games, Paint Nights (a specialty!), Scavenger Hunts, Escape Experience, and other customized experiences.
